705 gold nugget
« on: February 11, 2017, 11:58 »
Found with a 705 Mlb near Ballarat by a Bendigo Prospecting club member. The finder owns a 7000 and a 4800 but this was his first attempt at finding coins. On a track into an old sporting oval he found the remains of a pocket watch and his next target was this 30 gram nugget at around 50mm deep. One of the councils had repaired the track with stone from another area and this was in the wash used.
It was shown to us on the day that Minelab released there new Vlf gold machine but any machine would have found this one.

Our Mod Ant1967-2 is out with Bpc at the moment. He just messaged that he has just watched the finder dig out another nugget of 102 grams. Guessing this one would be with his GPX.

Is it cold there?  I just got back from Ontario, and it often hit -25 there with the wind chill.  Plenty of snow, but did enjoy my stay even though I didn't get to do any detecting.
