I spoke to the dealership owner ...... as family have bought a few cars from them .

I was asking if he could do anything with the price

He got one of the service guys to call me back......

" Sorry we are unable to move on the price ...."

Not good to hear Ant, life seems to be like that, everything crashing in at once.  On a positive note, after this lot you should be free of grief for a while.

As it's out of warranty and your not beholden to a Dealer, might be worth looking around, maybe there's a good diesel mechanic on the Forum?

Get onto the forums and find the best egr delete......and also how to do it........
It'll be a diy project......

You are paying $2000 to make your car run worse.......

It's not a legal mod......but it's better for the engine to breath fresh clean filtered air instead of burnt exhaust fumes.......
And you'll be surprised how many others have already done this mod.....

You should take Ant under your wing and show him as you are the only one that knows exactly what type of tree the gold is under  ;)

What a bugger, ask them why the egr failed if they won't tell you ask them to send it back to the factory as all the EGR does is put an inert gas into the combustion chamber to reduce NO2 emissions.

That's a terrible run of bad luck mate, after discussions with my diesel mechanic mate he recommended I blank off the egr, I ordered a blanking plate last week on eBay $7.25, it should arrive by the coming weekend, takes a few minutes to fit. Next will be a catch can and I think that should make the ranger live to 500k.

Bugger, that's hard to take all at once Ant, I would browse the BT50 & Ford Ranger Forums, there will be advice on EGR issues, maybe even non genuine parts, hopefully the CTX costs are absorbed by Mine lab, they seem to have a good reputation for doing the right thing, touch wood the vans OK and you won't have any issues apart from normal maintenance. incidentley the EGR issues have been around since the system was introduced years ago, after the replacement we used to secretly plug the vaccum line so it could never operate again, hope your situation improves.......cheers Colin.
