Am I a real detectorist now?
« on: July 21, 2017, 18:15 »
Thanks to some advice from Justafisho I found some BBs today - my first after owning a detector for over 2 years. Does that establish my bona fides? Can't be too many who found genuine gold **nuggets** before BBs . . . . . .
Also found a chain that may be silver . . . . come out of the ground with zero corrosion - just a dark sort of tarnish with silver showing through underneath. Hoping to establish tomorrow if its real or not. Not real big though.

** depends on definition of "nugget" 3 x 0.1g, and 1 x 0.2g **
I wanna to find stuff older than I am . . . . . .

You got into the BB's that great.  You never know what else you can find in those areas, the odd pre decimal pops up too.

Sounds like the chain is silver, giving it a clean with a silver cloth should tell you, or look for a 925 stamp if the clasp is still there.

Unfortunately no clasp, so no hallmark visible.
