A couple of nice firsts . . . .
« on: August 22, 2017, 21:24 »
Have managed a few nice firsts in the last couple of days. Sunday I found my first actual proper fair-dinkum real jewellery (as opposed to junk) - a sterling silver charm, and a 97% silver bracelet. I calculated the bullion value based on Sunday's silver price - $2.67AUD!!!!! Didn't say it was a big bracelet . . . . .

Today's haul (apart from a half-dozen pre-decs and about 4 kilos of junk) included my first harmonica reed,  padlock and a cool skeleton key.

Best finds however were a 1945 Victory Medal (handed out to school kids in 1945 - I think there have been a few posted over time here) and a 9k gold-plated sterling silver ring. Nice to find a real ring after several false starts with costume jewellery. I know that they aren't all that impressive, but they are mine . . . . .

A bit chilly over your way Mossop. I see another -1 in the morning. Might make a few more rings drop from fingers.
