Not sure I can get much closer to one of those FHIADs without missing it.

In fact I am so close I don't know if I missed it or not.

I went back to a spot I know has been hammered, but moved a bit away from where I know it has definitely been smashed to somewhere where I had been told not much had been found to my guides knowledge. Must have hit a sweet spot.

Second coin after a BB was a threepence, then a sixpence. A bit later a penny, then a shilling (my first!!!) and then suddenly the hunt was on!! Then came the crunch - a florin!!! Well, sort of . . . was actually HALF A FLORIN!!! Aaarrgghhh!!! A hunt around the area for the other half prodeuced another shilling (so after never having found one I had 2 in a day), a ha'penny (filling out my almost FHIAD).

Sadly, I never did find the other half of the florin, so I am literally half a coin short of a complete full house!!!!! In fact, I found 2 of everything except for the florin.

Ended up with 14 and a half pre-decs for the afternoon (easily my best haul, beating the 10 I got a week ago) including 7 silvers. That's a pretty fair afternoon I would have thought. I also found a thimble, which I think is aluminium, though I guess could be silver - it has "Gold Thimble" written on it, but I think not!!

I don't know whether to throw my FHIAD case at the mercy of the judges or to try, try again. What do the forum members think? At least I earned a shilling badge . . . .
I wanna AM to find finding stuff older than I am . . . . . .

Your coin isn’t a 3d or a shilling, its still a florin even if it is damaged. Stick it in the Badge claim section.
