BBS....,Warez...
I miss the old days!

I think I still have my floppy with my BBS phone addresses!!

Kind Regards

Ecto1

Sent from my iPhone.

I learnt to dial boards from my old man on a 1200bps modem, from then I was hooked.   Im glad some people remember  ;D  Nothing much has changed in the last 20 years in computer land.

lxss5000 that is a nice car, It should be given a new life like an old coin!

Genie, can send some wish's my way, silver and gold would be nice!  Your old man sounds very optimistic, like yourself.

Rwork, how many times a day do you say that mate?

OK groundfisher and Neo your wishes are granted, but for yours to come true groundfisher, you might have to walk passed your local jewellery store to get a gold ring every time. ;D . I'm saving the last wish for me, i have a gold nugget chain to retrieve for someone, and i'm wishing i walk over it in the next couple of days. ;)

spent 8 years in the US Marines,  jarhead is not a nice nickname that was given many years ago by the sailors (squids) to the Marines due to their extreme haircuts.

really hasnt nothing to do with the shape and size of my own head, really.

All,

Another member with the christian name of Guy, the GEM comes from a mixture of surname and given names and the Q comes form the old days when I used to DJ (similiar to MaxQ- INXS fame). With my other DJ mates we made up rapper names (very 80s) and mine was GEMQ MC303 comin actcha, the 303 comes from the time when I was a professional shooter in my younger days.

Qujibo  (pronounced KWIDGE-EE-BO) comes from the simpsons originally, although it was spelt differently.  Bart and Homer were playing scrabble and to get rid of all his letters, Bart made up the word Kwijebo (or something like that) His definition of the word, while looking at Homer, was - "A big, dumb, balding north American ape, with no chin and a short temper".  Anyway, a mate bet me that I wouldn't get it put on a number plate.  I had to change the spelling so it would fit.
After that, it kinda stuck as a nickname.  Also name a couple of businesses after it too.
I'm not really a Simpsons fan, just stupidly couldn't refuse the bet :)

Tell us a little about your Nickname?
Back when I joined the forum Alimo88 started a thread about my nickname, now is the time reveal its origin.

After a month long fishing trip to the far north of qld (back in the mid 90s) I returned with a beard of sorts. My brother thought it was so bad that he started calling me goodbeard.  The name unlike the beard stuck around and I use it for other stuff cause I can't be bothered dreaming up something else.

By the way if you see the other thread Alimo started then you may note jarhead was closest to the mark, just that that fella is a hell of a lot better looking than me ;)

My nickname comes from the job I do and that's not playing guitar, I swing a axe for a living, at times I swap for a brushcutter or chainsaw clearing regrowth and cutting fence posts.

Mines fairly boring too,
At the time i was a "newby" to do detecting, (still fairly new, just not quite a greenhorn anymore), and i live in newcastle otherwise known as "newy". Hence newbyfromnewy was born.
Also known as Leighby on chat, thats elroys fault, 1 drunken night with him can change everything...Hahahaha
