L J  my christian name initials (eljay), given this title by old school mates after watching the Charlton Heston movie El Cid, guess they recognized my leadership qualities, were ensconced by my charming good looks and had a great desire to see me crowned King. Hahahaha

Tommy Cash-
Well my christian name is Thomas, though most people call me Tom, and I like to find Cash. Also I like to listen to the "man in black" so the combination of it all Tommy Cash. Now that my wife tells her friends on face book what Tommy Cash has found lately its starting to stick ( Facebook- Ugh, I wouldn't be seen dead on a social networking site- this forum isn't one is it? ;))

Ummmmmm ......
I do a bit of gold detecting and when out in the bush camping, I have this habit of dropping a 5c piece in the hole after "I do my stuff" (if you get what I mean) and then fill it in.
At a certain depth it sounds just like a piece of gold to the unwary. Started after I'd had more than a few one night and when it was found the next night everyone killed themselves laughing at the unfortunate finder !

The Sodd has stuck, even the wife calls me that now.
Cheers

This is how I got my nickname. My last name being Wilson I was called Willy at school. The 46 came about when worked security, my ID number was 46. I had that number for 12 years. A lot of memories too.

When your surname is Jackson........there aren't many choices.    My avatar/photo is of a Numbat that I took a few years ago.  ( also into wildlife photography)  A really cool little native animal that digs little holes everywhere searching for goodies (termites).  I thought it was appropriate.

Cheers

Back in the day I came across the term parsec as a measure of distance while studying astronomy. I was also studying IT at the time, in particular the language C and programmers use the term parse for going through the code, so parseC covered both bases.

I previously (early '90's) used other nics for computer stuff, but changed most of them to parsec as no one else was using it at the time and having something unique was handy.

I have always owned bikes, they have been my daily transport since forever. Many years ago some scourge of the earth stole my helmet off my bike. This was a problem. No Helmet = No Bike = No Transport! As i had little income in those days i was devastated! A buddy said "here... borrow this helmet". It was a open-face red helmet that had been spray painted flat black and knocked around heaps so you could see the red. It also had no visor (borrow??? you REALLY want this back??? :o ) Partially consoled, I go to the back shed and find a old pair of motor-cross / aviation goggles. Relieved i am mobile for work again. At the time i was trainee at the dockyards. So here i am pootling to work, and my best buddy sees me pulling up and says... "Who do you think you are? the toecutta or something?" and that has stuck for nearly 30 years. and yer.. i still dig the original Mad Max <giggling>.

Pleased to meet you

I learnt to detect 4 years ago using a (Tesoro) Laser B1...(reportedly the best in its time for detecting in the UK back in the 90's).... it takes a while to understand what it's saying, but once you get to know it, it remains reliable, consistant and just "keeps going"...I like to think it's a bit like me  ;D
