Well.  I recently bought a MI-6 and it is going great guns.  But, if I was to buy another, I'd consider the Minelab Pro Find 35 because of its ability to discriminate ferrous targets.  Trouble is, they are not in stock anywhere that I can find.

I used one of Bendigo Golds 35 back in Nov. i would have thought they would be available now. The cheap Land and Sea are waterproof but i don’t remember if the Minelab is. The discriminate features sounds good but only field tests will show if it is a gimmick. I had hoped the COY and FOY. comps would be getting 35’s but i guess the winners get whatever is available.

Hi Ray.  They are released for sale.  It's just that nowhere, I can find, has any stock.  The local Miners Den has buyers waiting.  David.

Just like a detector you will get several answers. Go with a quality one and you should be ok.  At the end of the day its your skills pinpointing on the detector that is crucial.  If you have a good detector pinpoint  then any basic hand pin pointer should suffice as you should be close to the target.  Just my opinion as that is what works for me.

ProFind 35 is Water Proof, but takes a little getting used to.

The coil puts you in teh ball park; a good pin pointer with a sharp field at the tip, will allow you to accurately pinpoint location and depth = no plug needed.

Some Pin pointers can be repaired, but the majority are disposable...   So post warranty = Buy another new one.

I just thought I would ask the question as there are a few Pin Pointers on the market now, and if money was not a deterrent what would it be.

Is the Garrett Carot still a favourite or do you think technology  in others has superceded this one??

Thanks all for comments so far.

Never Liked the Carrot for many reasons.....  But Technical issues are the biggest... And then the price for a disposable item.

And it all comes back to what your hunting for...

Gold niblets - ML PF35 seems good in static testing..  In the field, not done enough there.

Underwater - Deteknix Pro Dive or Scubdetector

Coins and relics - Whites TRX / Notka / ML  15/25/35    Land and Sea and a few others...  Note: ML are also not repairable.

Ability to Repair Maintain post warranty is a big issue for me; yet many do not seem to care/consider.

The first one I bought was a Pistol Probe, and now use a Nokta pointer.  Both work ok for me.

I would have to put some thought into the selection. Waterproof gets 10 points. Discrimination gets 2 because the metal detector did that. Rechargeable gets 3 because I carry spare batteries and can't easily recharge in the middle of nowhere and battery change is instant,  shape for me a cylinder shape gets 6 and a pistol shape gets 5 personal preference. Other peoples feedback considered
I guess I am saying to each there own

I have a TRX, Carrot and MI6.

They all do as advertised and pinpint. I love the MI6 and it's integration with the Deus. But I can't retire the TRX,it pinpointes on the end. Doesn't radiate around the pinpointer. Makes actual target location extremely accurate, you don't get tricked by a target in the side of a hole.

That's carrot was my first, so I guess we will always have a special connection.

After having 2 x Black Garrett’s ( first one in 2012 lasted til 2015 )
second one bought in 2015 quality seems not as good as the previous one , but I still
A have it
Bought a ML profind 25 ( 2014 ) - first one ( light grey ) went back under warranty . It’s replacement ( dark grey ) works ok , but falses.

Bought a Deteknix Wader LI about 8 months ago - for quality , sensitivity its probably been the best I’ve had

Just my experiences ......

Having simplified my detecting lately I bought a Mars MD pointer on special from Clegy, about $106 I think, goes deep enough in the ground which is not reflected in the air tests. Only one button so it's easy to use, I have another 2 button job but I seem to forget the combinations as I wasn't detecting regularly. not sure which one I'd buy if money was no object since this one works so well, a top end pointer that was repairable would be nice........cheers Colin.

Have had the PF35 for a few weeks, but not yet had enough experience with it across all conditions; to make a fair call at this stage..

Pro-Find 25 worked fine but audio could have done with a little extra volume.

It could detect the difference between a small silver coin and a nail, or a tiny gold sliver and a Cat track bolt on hot WA ground.

2677 members on this forum, surely I can't be the only one that have used one. ???
