First token since joining the forum. Found it a couple of weeks ago.
B.Palmer wine and spirit token circa 1857.
Poor condition. Still needs some more cleaning.

Found in Sth Australia on 6/4/15 a nickle sized Silver King Novelty Company trade token used to get around gaming laws. Pity I kissed it with the shovel.
From the net "Silver King made slot, gumball, hunting-type and other machines from the 1920s into the 1950s."

Castlemaine grocers David Murray and John Christie operated their store from between the shops of George Ryland & Co., and W. Froomes, both of whom also issued tokens, as did their near neighbour, T. Butterworth & Co., also of Market Square.

One penny token 1862, found north of the ACT border on 24 May 2015.

Hi guys,

Can anyone help me identify these tokens? I found seven of them in a very small area of a park in Sydney. I've googled it to death to no avail. R.F.T.?

Thanks,
Jonathon

Whitehunter interesting story if you google the name on the token. I found one of these in Victoria a couple of years ago with a hole in it as if it had been worn on a chain.

Thanks for the heads up JMP333 . At your prompting I did google it and found it very interesting . R Joseph was a convict passenger to Aust . , later made a freeman and took on the contract to run the toll gate for 3 years . Member of the Jewish faith .  Had the tokens minted in England . Looks like mine is the halfpenny version so still have to find the full penny one ! He must have been an interesting bloke and had an interesting life , glad i looked it up , thanks again .
