Whites Coinmaster GT
« on: December 30, 2012, 21:12 »
Just received my new Whites Coinmaster GT, very nice unit, well balanced and love the colour ;D Have to wait till after the New Year to give it a whirl. I have only air tested and I'm impressed :) Exactly the same features as the Prizm 6T except for the colour.
Cheers,

I purchased the GT from the US and total cost including express shipping was $459.00 AUD. It only took 7 days to arrive, so it's worth paying the extra few dollars for express instead of priority shipping.

In also waiting to hear about the whites coin master GT , as u sold my ace 250 to a begging friend while on holiday I'm in the market for a lesser priced detector as a spare or for areas not appropriate for the ctx, ie I prefer a lesser machine on playgrounds , or for shallow work :)

The Coinmaster GT is a great machine, I gave it a thorough work out last weekend. Went to Lakes Entrance surf beach, found $16.00 in $2.00 coins, $8.00 in $1.00, and $2.40 in silver. No rings as yet. Got a few pulltabs and screw caps of course. On dry sand I could hunt with full sensitivity and the VDI is spot on, in the wet sand got a bit of chatter, pushed the "Beach" pad and most of the chatter disappeared, lowered the sensitivty 1 bar and it was quiet as a mouse. In the salt water it worked fine as long as you kept your coil at the same height and kept a slow steady swing, lowered sensitivity 2 bars - actually found 2 sinkers. So far I'm happy with it, the tone ID is nice, pinpointing is spot on, backlight works well as does the auto ground tracking. Heading off on holidays tomorrow so will give it another workout as well as the MXT.
Cheers,

yeah, I've pretty-much settled on a GT as my next machine.

Seems to be well regarded by those who have one and it looks to pack a lot of bang for the buck.

Having a backlight is a big plus for me because I've been doing a lot of night hunting during the hot weather.

Just wondering, is the Coinmaster GT a newer version of the Coinmaster Pro as it has the same buttons and layout.

It's the Prizm 6 basically, with the main difference being it has a 2 piece shaft and no cam lock.

Ok, hopefully one of our GT users can give me the good oil here.

Having looked at the GT's VDI numbers it appears that I should be able to disc out most of the modern pulltabs, screw caps and canslaw while pirating parks for spendables, assuming that our coins come up in the same general range as US ones on this machine.

I'm just wondering if a GT user can confirm that the reality looks something like the theory.

After 5 hours park bashing yesterday produced over 70 assorted bits of aluminium and pulltabs for a just over 11 bucks I'm more than ready to jump off this machine.   I accept the need to dig my share of crap but this is ridiculous!  It makes for a very inefficient use of swinging time and unfortunately the gimped knees only allow so many targets to be dug in a session.  >:(

Well, I should have a first hand opinion of the GT shortly.

Mine should be here in the next 3 or 4 days!  ;D

About time too.... Haven't dug a hole in two weeks and I'm seriously considering going out with the propointer only!  :o

Good on you trigger for keeping at it, I usually go the long way round myself but get there in the end, I'm not familiar with your detector, does it have multiple tones?, if so try hunting on tones alone and forget the screen, whatever you do keep going......cheers Colin.

I've had a Coinmaster GT for a couple of years now. Great for coins & relics. Pin pointer works well. My only criticism is that it is a bit chattery on wet sand, but the "beach" mode cuts it down a lot. I think it's a top machine for the price and I have no intentions of upgrading to anything else.
