Ivan,
Whats your 100% no holds barred opinion of the Head Hunters?
Can they keep up the excal in your opinion?
Cheers mate would be very interested in your feedback.
Clegy
Both my HH VLF and PI unit are working fine, even if the head phone control units are not water proof they can if needed be used very conveniently wading in chest deep water, but a scoop with a long handle is a must.

That's my 20% worth.
There is more, perhaps another day when condition allow.

The sound of a HH-Wader with a 10" coil on a windy Qld beach.

Unable to change the link to the Video so it will just have to lead to nowhere, not very practical but that be the conditions.

Pistol Probe project is now finished and working well, now there is a choice between attaching the Probe or the Coil.

I have never used an Excal so would not be able to compare the two brands besides Garry Storm the maker of Detector Pro have retired so I guess no more HH detectors.

ivanll

HH Alive and well mate, I know the new owners in The states and they will continue the brand on which is good.

Does it draw more current driving the large coil?

11" coil draw around 10-15 mA, it draw less  than the probe.

A fun/testing project with a Pistol Probe, changed the probe for a full size coil .... so far it has shown to work just fine.

I used to think that the HH Wader was an Fisher Aquanaut in different clothing.
Runs at 2.4khz with sens and Disc control that goes from All Met to whatever max is.
I have heard that the HPs were a problem in some way but cannot recall what it was.

Shane,

One is the HH Uniprobe PI with an 11" exchangeable coil.

The other is a HH Wader also with exchangeable coils.

Wader is doing just fine on a wet beach........it's simple to operate/use.

I like easy and simple. :)

It is worth to note, any detector that can be set up for wet salt sand beach detecting could have located these items.
I was just there at the right time. :D
