Lugging two machines to the beach sounds like extra work to me,why not buy just one machine to cover both dry & wet sand, Sovereign gt range, Etrac ,AT Pro or similar

Getting a Tesoro from overseas is very difficult unless it's secondhand.

I really did like that machine.
Just wish it did not come with a shorted coil.( or I knew enough to know it was shorted)

Wow guys. An interesting thread. Just so you "experts" on the situation are aware of a few "facts". First of all, Paul was notified and communicated with (there's always 2 sides remember) & was not in any way shafted out of his position. I even approached him to be a dealer for him & that wasn't on the cards. So unfortunately for him when I approached Tesoro with a plan to expand the brand name & grow the brand they seen as an opportunity that they were already exploring. We have taken up SOLE distributorship of Tesoro and are loving the detectors that we have used thus far.
For those that have issues with your Tesoro detectors we are only a call away and ready to help.

Hi to everyone out there in detecting land.
I'm Phil from the Gold Mining Centre and many know me personally.
I have resisted posting on the forum, especially with what happened to us.

After over 22 years in the detector game, importing and retailing, I have seen many changes in this industry.
Some of these changes have been good, but many have been bad choices and even unethical to Australian standards.
What I wanted to do, was to place a true perspective about Paul Knee and Tesoro.

I was very good friends with Dave Bishop who originally was the Importer for Tesoro.
He was a real gentleman and we had many discussions about what was going on in this industry.
Many of these conversation included confidential and sensitive information that would have even upset many Importers/Dealers out there.
Paul Knee eventually took over the Tesoro Importer/Distributorship from David, due to certain health issues.

During this period, I have dealt with Paul on numerous occasions with many discussions also.
All information between us was kept confidential.
We have a mutual respect for each other.

During discussions with a customer, it was mentioned that the Tesoro Importer/Distributorship had been sold.
I replied that it was the first time I had heard about it and asked where he had heard about it.
He said that it was on this forum, stating that a new business had taken it over.
I then contacted Paul Knee and said that I had heard that he had sold his business.
He replied that he had not sold the business and was still the only authorised Importer/Distributor for Australia.
Wanting to know where I heard about his supposably handing over the Tesoro Distributor, I let him know that a customer had told us and that it was on the forum
This posting on the forum, was posted about 6 to 8 weeks prior to me notifying Paul Knee.

He contacted Tesoro in the USA that night and was told that the other business was given a dealership and not an Importer/Distributorship.
He asked why he wasn't told about this other business and did not receive a satisfactory answer.

Pricing was a major concern which was also caused a big problem.
Please note, as one of my customers posted here, he was there when I was talking to Paul on the phone and knows that this is true.
Due to this, Paul Knee was forced to make a decision about the future.
It was also noted somewhere on the forum, that when Paul was out of the picture, the prices for Tesoro Detectors increased.

The main reason for this posting is to correct the information on this forum, that Paul Knee didn't know and wasn't notified by Tesoro in the USA
It was done behind his back.
There is major problems with Loyalty and Ethics in this industry.

Hopefully this has cleared up the incorrect information on what actually happened.

I would disagree on one point.
When I bought my Vaquero from Paul it, was more expensive than
the new distributor

Could be that Pauls prices were being deliberately undercut in an attempt to take sales away from North east detectors.

Thanks Phil for putting across the other side of the story. I've never had a go at anyone over this topic, just put my side across. If that's seen in a different light so be it. The prices are actually set to be close to the American prices.

I have been interested in a Vaquero for some time now, I have had 2 failed attempts to purchase from the USA, we all know why and most of us are aware of Trade Sanctions endorsed by various manufacturers. Not wishing to stir the pot but in my case I would like to point out that as of now the price of a Vaquero at Aussie Detecting is $610, the price at Colonial Metal Detectors is $446(US), of course Postage is not included but it is not necessary here as all I am doing is showing the enormous price difference between the same products in 2 different countries. If the Australian price reflects the American price more accurately I will be the 1st to order one, such a strangulation of what really is a superb product, apologies to anyone I might have offended.....cheers Colin.

Yes Brad I understand the Postage issues and Economies of Scale etc, I guess the core issue is the base price between America and Australia, I guess if a container load was imported and they were slow to sell, the dilemma would return albeit in a different form. Hey Trev, that's a great offer but I would prefer one without your severed hand stuck to it

I think your prices are Fair. I think after our move on Monday I will be looking at another detector.
I don't want to spend on another CTX 3030 so another Tesoro is in my sights.

Hey Aussie Detecting, would love to buy from here and will drop the cash as soon as that new model comes out. Was so impressed with tesoros build quality in the Cibola I had before I have no hesitation to go through America though to save a few dollars as you'd have to be very unlucky to need the warranty.
So please make the price as close as you can to the yanks when exchange rate, postage are factored in. The last 2 months I've sent 2 g's overseas for metal detecting gear when it should have stayed here, but I just can't justify working another week to be patriotic.
Hope you can make Tesoro grow well here, it's an awesome brand.
Also hope you have the inside scoop on the cazador release date and what's it got!

They are keeping it real quiet. I did ask them a couple weeks back if there's anything they can tell me about it & all I got wast that they are taking some key improvements & developing a detector that will take Tesoro to the next level. Very cryptic & didn't let a lot out. But once I know more I'll share it when I can.

hi, on a side note, what is the situation with repairs/warranty on a dectector brought from you. is it repaired on site
