Salt water does not bother the coil. Just don't drop the tecta in the water.
I have been playing with a CS4 PI for a short while now and yeah it is an okay beach machine that can hit on coins at good depth from surface to better than 12 inches. Just take a bit of care and experiment with a good selection of targets and diff metals while trying different  Sens and Pulse rates.

coil is waterproof I run mine up until the end of the lower shaft as the control box is not waterproof.
A freezer bag over it allows me to hunt in the rain and also gives some basic prote tion from accidental splashes. It is a very high tech freezer bag I must say. LOL

Never had any probs with mine in the water although I never took it over a couple of feet deep. Don't submerge  the control box.

It mentions in the specs that the coil is waterproof, so can't see why you couldn't submerge it at the beach.

Any idea on the postage costs to Perth WA?

Regards

Australia Post shipping quote is Below mate.
Pretty accurate, size of box is the problem, it doesn't weigh anything.

Cheers Radar

It may well find a few more goodies if you have given it a clean out before, it certainly won't explode or cause you any harm to at least try it.
Special will run until new year, when I have a price review across the whole store.

Cheers mate appreciate the questions, If you have any more fire away.

Gidday Clegy , thanks mate for the info , yes i understand about the discrimination , i was just thinking it may be good to go over a spot that the pro has done just to see if it is getting anything that has been missed or incase it goes a little deeper maybe , but it would be mainly for the beach mate for sure . So i am very keen , how long is it on this special price for mate , Gazza .

Yeah it goes well in the dirt BUT...

Its a basic PI so everything and I mean everything pings on it. No discrimination circuits so be prepared for a busy day on the dig.
At the beach I dig everything anyway, so no discrim is not that much of an issue in most places.

I can't think of a scenario on land where you would use the CS4PI over the AT? Perhaps on the goldfields but I would sweep it with the AT first to get rid of most of the trash then come back over with the PI for the finer stuff. (Note this is just a theory)

Hope that helps a bit mate.

Hey! Clegy,
Do you know if you can submerge the coil without being detrimental to the C Scope? (Seawater)
Cheers,
Notalot.

Hope so I had it in the drink at the beach this morning........ Yes mate the coil is ok for the seawater but not the control box.
I found it didn't need much tuning when transitioning from damp to wet sand to water. I am quietly impressed with it so far.

Cheers Mate

The C-Scope CS4-PI is on the way and will be here in about 2 weeks,

Product details and pre-order is at the link below, any questions shoot me a PM or ask them in the thread.

This should be a good wetsand dedicated metal detector to add to your existing Kit.

As a LOT of VLF's are hopeless on wetsand and the FBS and BBS machines can be a bit pricey for a lot of people the price point is designed so you can have a dedicated beach machine AS WELL AS your current one.

Good reviews from the UK and being Pulse Induction it should give the wetsanders some depth that they are missing with VLF stuff.

Cheers Guys should be a fun summer this year!

I was resigned to the fact that I would likely buy a VLF due to cost- my situation? My parents own a beach house on the central coast and I want to get into beach-combing primarily (to start). Dry sand- but I would like the option of wet sand, too.

One more time  ;)   wet & dry sand + dirt, BBS-FBS minelab  ;)

Thanks for the tip... I did find a really good site that told me all about BBS and FBS- it really came down to price, as well as my hesitation to buy things second hand. I did appreciate it, sorry I never replied- I had a crazy couple of work days.

Cheers everyone!

Thanks OL 56 for reminding me. I had forgotten .... and was waiting for the weather here to clear and then down to the surf.
I haven't, as yet, done much wet sand work with the standard concentric 7.5kHz coil.

Thanks Radar, most helpful. I will now have to try your settings. I hadn't thought to use the 18.75 coil at the beach on wet sand. Peter
