Fors Gold Relic finds
« on: October 11, 2016, 11:37 »
Here is a selection of finds I have made this year with the 15KHz Nokta Fors Gold. I have a GPX4500 which I use for gold detecting and I bought this Nokta machine so my son could have at least a chance of a nugget when we detect together which he has IMO, though of course there will need to be a bit of luck involved. Nice and light detector for him to swing and a killer for myself finding relics.
I will add more when time permits.

European trip Germany and Czech Republic, found a load of coins and other bits but my suitcase was too heavy already so left them in safe keeping in Scotland before coming home. Looking forward to going back soon

Some cool old relics there Colin

Some tokens can be rare & worth a few $

Think I like the twin 1910 3D brooch the best & the 1817 George 111 Silver .

    Nice work

Good example of gold field relics.  Did you find the Nazi stuff or buy it?  My grandfather had a bunch of Nazi stuff but threw them overboard as they were told they were being searched and any souvenirs found would delay them getting out of the US Army.  This was coming home from the European campaign (WW2).

I found the stuff in the first picture on private land in Germany, the 2nd picture Czech Republic, I have a lot of friends who detect WW2 relics in central Europe. I used to think the Goldfields were the next best thing, but now I think I like it more. Having said that Snake buckles are good, real snakes not so good.

At the start of this post on the first group of pictures are some buttons. Wondering what the larger one is on the bottom in the centre, has a crown on it. Lots of interesting stuff overall. I have seen two large snakes in the last 3 days, rather see a snake buckle.

My favourite button from the diggings. Features the motto of the Clan Grant, with an Edinburgh maker on the back, that being my home town.
Motto on the button is STAND FIRM which was used by them along with STAND FAST.

edit: Add original find photo with shilling found same day, same place

What a fantastic assortment of relics and coins.  I particularly like the Edwardian 3d broach.

8th pic in the first post, what is the small coin on the far right next to the 1917 3d? looks interesting.

Thanks for sharing, keep the pics coming.

Cheers

That is an Apothecary weight, to measure medicines, but I also discovered they were used to weigh black powder.
My avatar is another from the same set and found in the same place, so probably dropped by the same guy.
I found the 2 Drams one with the Fors Relic and not the Fors Gold though which is why it was not included here.

For the first time in a while the heavy rain stopped yesterday, but I was busy elsewhere. Today the sun shone again and I was out making the most of it. Great couple of hours, some nice axe heads and part of a bell, some other pieces but my grin was huge when I saw another black powder flask... same as the first one I found but in far better condition, also both sides present and in good order.
