hi im new to detecting only have a cheap vlf detector.only found a couple of coins $2, 20c. im in maitland area nsw

Welcome . At least that is $2.20 towards the better detector :)

Keep at it, rod...you will find the hobby totally addictive.

Your "cheap"  detector  can pick up current coins, so you are well on your way.

There is a wealth of information & support on this Forum. Don't be cautious about asking questions.

Welcome to the forum Rod. I haven't used the 3006 but there are plenty of good detectors around. Buy the best second hand unit you can afford rather than a cheap new rig.

Welcome  to the forum Rod there are a few of us in the maitland  area what detector  do you have and what area did you try to find your coins

your local area has been hit hard for coins/relics. But, we dont get everything! Sorry that Ramjet scared you away from facebook as well.
