Howdy ,

I found some dog tags.

I had a look through the resources section as I thought we may have links to ADF service number details etc.

AS 8244363.  ( the AS is Australian )
ROBERTS  DC
RC.    ( Religion )
A. POS.   ( blood type )

Having trouble finding any info.

If anyone can point me where I may find some info...?

Looks to me to be more recent issue, 2000 onwards.  May be hard to track at all, maybe contact Defence Dept..

They are definitely dog tags, which are quite new. As the service number is quite new.
It should be possible to find this member, as you have the members service number name and initials.
Being a common Name the Service Number would be the best bet.  Not sure if there is a department in Canberra, which could help.

Hello Ant, I asked my son and he also thinks the number is recent as it looks like a pmkeys number. He thinks they changed to pmkeys numbers around 2001-02 ish. My suggestion would be to phone the Watsonia Army Barracks and see if they can help.

A big part of detecting is being in the right place - in your head and at the site.

Thanks to those who replied .

After a bit of a wait & a few emails the ADF was able to contact the owner of the tags ( currently serving )

I was given some instructions what to do with them & got word today they have been returned to the owner .
