Looks like the service number was re-used...
http://tributes.dailytelegraph.com.au/notice/321802011

Tough one to track down...  He was top of 4th class in Geography and History in Parkes in 1927.  Also 4th in his class in 1926.

No birth registered, no death yet... still searching...

Lindsay O'brian
Parkes ~ Not so far  from my original stomping ground ~

A quick search has  given me  no positive results thus far either ~ but  it is not unusual . I have many ID tags which   give  no  record of any  trace or record after they  left the forces  ~

( I have found even tracking the family can be  a real  struggle ~ One of my most record  was a form the Tumbarumba, NSW   area  ~ thought that would be an easy one but  ~no record ~ seems the family  simply vanished ~ although in that case  the name sake are spread  up and down the  South  coast of NSW! ~ )

Very good start there Roy ~

I actually traced  a family down  south and I was referred to 'his' daughter ~ and she was in Europe on Holidays ~ and She promised to get  in touch when she returned to  organise  receive her father's tag ~ but despite several  further  contacts on my part she  never  came back ! (?)

Another was a  field medic;  serving from 1940 to 1946 ~ and he  was from Cairns ~ I checked the local phone book and made a quite a few  calls  ~ as there were literally dozens of Watson's in the our phone book ~ but none knew the man ~

But those that have  received the ID tag/s were all ecstatic ~ I have received Thanks You cards , Post cards  ~ and even  scratchies ~

So good luck ~ it is a great achievement I can promise you ~

Gotta think outside the box.  I was assuming Emily was his wife...  Nope Emily is the mother!!!

Thomas Edward was his Daddy...  This gets me further along!!

He had a older sister called  Katherine born 1913 but died in 1914... and a brother William E born 1910... Another sister Joyce died in 1924.

His parents married in 1910, his mum was Emily BARTLETT.

Lindsay died in 1982, does not say where it was registered.

I think his brother married Irene Page in 1936...

Hope that works, because I have run out of leads...  Apart from someone visiting the Parkes cemetery for more details, I have run out of searches.

Update: Someone visited for me online :)

Let me know if it doesn't work out, because I can nick into the National Library and look at the Parkes newspaper, may have some clues to the family in the Death notices.  The O'Brien's are damn hard to track down thats for sure...
