Received my detector on Friday, so took it for a run on Sunday, found a number of bottle tops.
Took it for another run on a different beach today, found more bottle tops, a horse shoe, some large metal hook, about 3 tent pegs.
Plus a $2 coin - yay! But, two items I'm not sure of - top middle could be a small battery or sinker? Feels heavy for the size. Also top right, very light, perhaps melted aluminium can remnants from a camp fire?
Any ideas what those two items could be welcomed!

Your on the right track Tassie.  Only way to learn a new detector is to dig all signals.

Top middle looks like lead, maybe a lead weight from a throw net?  Top right maybe a piece from an earring?

Thanks your post made me smile.
The first time out with your detector is special just like that other "first time" we all experience.
I remember my first coin being a 20c and still being happy. While its great to find stuff and trust me you will, it becomes as much about being out doors and the thrill of the hunt.
And like Sambo said, until you become experienced with your machine dig everything!!
Good Luck and we all look forward to watching your detection collection grow

Thanks all, the encouragement and advice is appreciated. Weird thing is that I kind of intuitively had a feeling I would find a coin in the small allotment of the bigger area I was searching. Expected more and older ones though!
