Look I am a bit torn, the stuff I get on the Pearling camps counts as some of my most memorable detecting trips. But my first gold coin is hard to top.

...didn't take my breath away at first...but when I cleaned the mud off it , I knew it was something pretty old...and probably Saxon....my first reaction was "wow"...and as the days progressed, and the clarification of what the find was became clearer...it took on a greater "wow" factor...For me, this Anglo Saxon Stirrup Mount is my greatest find...(I love the Saxon workmanship)

This is my fave find. Found with the old garrett gold stinger scorpion. It qas the anticipation of wondering what was inside that made it a great memorable find. Found at a ww2 army camp, it has a chinese id number engraved on the back.

This was a jewlery rescue find. I was over the moon when I found it and the owners reaction over the phone is something I will never forget. The only down side is that the post I wrote a couple of hours after finding it vanished when the forum changed hands.

The date on the pic I took of the necklace is 30/1/13 . The post was in the original Jewelry Rescue section that the owner of the Jewelry rescue business had started. That section vanished with the Forum change of ownership. :( . I have searched through my posts and there is no other mention of it.

I had commented earlier but for some reason the picture didn’t show when i looked back at the post.
I had found a little plaque or badge that said Cobb and Co ( or similar) found many years ago and now lost to a safe place somewhere.
The Gold was found with grass growing on it. It lost many grams when i put it in HF acid but i retrieved about 8 grams in with the stone. Not sure but i may have got Barney to do the crushing and panning. It came in handy as a wedding gift to my daughter.

Tried to post a picture but kept getting error messages. I found that my screen shot was a PNG and about 5 mb.

Sorry Sneaky i deleted your post instead of mine. Your suggestion of mailing it to myself worked. A 1mb jpeg had turned into a very large Mb screenshot in PNG.

Some great finds there for sure and the sovereign is certainly on the bucket list.Well here we go.
A few years ago I was detecting near a old stone house which was inhabited in the 1880`s.A grader had just cleared a fire break near this building so thought this was a good chance to have a look.I was detecting on the edge of his scrape an hey bingo a target which was a silver florin.Waved the coil over again and same result, another florin. This kept happening until I had retrieved nine in total. There was no sign of a container so only thing I could think of was they must have been maybe in a canvas bag which has long gone. The head is of a young Queen Victoria and on the reverse is one florin, one tenth of a pound. There is no sign of a date which is strange.Maybe someone on the forum may be able to throw some light on this.
At the time I was using my mine-lab 15000 one of the first machines from minelab.
