Please help me ID this button

This small dome button was found in SE We'd on site of 1850's court house which is now a paddock.  The makers details are barely discernible but under the loop looks like ".J. EA". E is possibly a W and following is what may be ST, although I couldn't get a photo through the lens of it. Any suggestions?
