Got me beat
« on: November 22, 2017, 17:48 »
Its made of brass, tubular, and a thing on the top that looks like an aeroplane with out its wings.

it looks like it would sit on a pole as there is a small hole near the base to secure it with. (screw hole)

Could it have attached to a bedframe.  ???????

Any ideas much appreciated.

Cheers all,

Notalot

It's pretty heavy, the hole at the base  or base diameter is 2.5 X 3.0 cm, so a fair size.

Thanks G1 for comments.

I reckon a clothes hook.  What is in the base?  Does it screw onto something?

The base is hollow, so something like a pole would fit inside. A clothes line pole would make sense.

A fair bit of brass for an end fitting.

Cheers all.

The shape looks like it could push up as well as pull down(as opposed to a hook) eg elevated louvred windows.
Some lanterns and gas heaters did have a lever to turn them up or down(with a pilot light).
Also roller blinds, maps and  screens used a pole to pull them down but a second pull got them to go up again so a hook would have done the job..

I'd ask my Dad, but he's no longer around...this 3rd generation "wood-man" agrees with blueyonder...most likely a window sash opener, used to open elevated windows that were above normal standing height....something similar to this photo me thinks!..
