How many Detectorists ??
« on: December 23, 2017, 17:56 »
Gday,
Sorry if this has been asked before.
If anyone knows (maybe a dealer), I was wondering How many people metal detecting in :
1)  Australia
2) Worldwide

The second half of my question is :
Apart from the obvious protection of ancient / historic sites and their possible artifacts - why do some countries ban m.d ?
I would of thought something like our Heritage Places Act could protect historic areas rather than an outright countrywide ban of the hobby ??

cheers & Seasons Greetings and good health in 2018 to all ;D

Hi There would be no way of answering these questions accurately.
And detectors have been around for many years across many countries.
Loads of different detector models no one dealer has them all.

Sorry it would only be a guess.
