[Poll] Summer Detecting
« on: January 05, 2018, 14:25 »
Just a quick question, dose the heat reduce the depth your detector will penetrate?

I dont know if the heat does but in the past I have read that people have found that detecting at night claim that they have had quieter runs and better sensitivity from their detectors.  Whether it is a matter of heat, I dont think so.  Probably more so that other senses are less busy and its a quiet time of the day so their hearing picks up on the more subtle signals, another claim is that there is less magnetic interference (solar ?) at night but I dont know about that stuff, just hearsay and what I have read in various forums over the years.

I would imagine that night time would be quite for EMF.  CB and ham radio reception is better at night so, it stands to reason that there would be less interference to a metal detector.  Being cooler and quieter would help too, I'm sure.

Heat dries up the soil and wet soil conducts better.

Dutchy is spot on.

Go to any spot you reckon you have smashed when the ground is fully saturated and you will be amazed by the results.
