A school teacher from W.A. has been found dead 2.5 klms from camp in Cue.

That's really sad, It seems to be at least one a year is going missing at the moment.

Probably a good time to check your safety gear requirements and make sure your not the next one.

I turn 68 in a few weeks and am not as nimble as I once was.  I usually camp and fossick on my own in a sparsely inhabited area. Consequently, I bought a $300.00 personal Epirb which I carry with me at all times.  However, age should not be a consideration when one considers buying one.  Accidents can happen to anyone.  When we consider how much we spend on detecting gear, another $300.00 spent on safety is inconsequential.

I don’t know the circumstances of the death of that poor bugger but, it is a timely reminder that we are all fragile when we pit ourselves against the bush.  I hope he did not suffer too long and that his death was not at the hands of another.

My condolences to his family and friends.
