Gold suckers & yabby pumps.
« on: August 22, 2011, 12:40 »
Hey guys, just wanted to know if anyone has used a gold sucker or yabby pump for getting gold? I watched my mate on the weekend use a yabby pump & couldn't believe the gold he was getting.
Also in regards to gold suckers is there an Aussie mob making & selling them here? Plenty in the US but I couldn't find one on OZ?

HI Brad I've had a look a these items i don't think there is one made in Australia, you can make one for the same price as the sale and importation from the US maybe cheaper. you can get the parts from the hardwear store and make it to any size you want. I don't like the spring loaded type stop valves, try the internet or the pool shop for swing shift non-return valve this valve has nothing for stones to get stuck in such as a spring. The swing shift valves i have seen fit 40mm PVC pipe this would be a good size you can use a 30mm piece or smaller for the suction end. Look on youtube for fabrication ideas. if you need any more help contact me

Yeah I've put one together and works pretty good. I also got one from the states which is on it's way. I want to see what different parts he uses so that I can make the improvements on mine. Heading to castlemaine in a couple of weeks to give them a go. Bring on the nuggets!

There is a guy on eBay who makes them. He is in NSW. I bought one. $80.00plus postage. Works a treat. You do have to buy your own yabby pump. If you search ‘hand dredge’ it should come up.
