Equinox
« on: October 10, 2017, 05:13 »
Well its been a couple of weeks now since the news of the new Equinox and we see on Youtube many tests by Russian / Polish or others that most cannot understand and i am wondering when English speakers will produce a test or two?
For me i would love to see what the Equinox is like in the saltwater in multi frequency and other settings.
If this machine works well i can see it selling wildly because of its weight and simplicity / capability.
I know this is the section for the Terra's but i cant see one for the Equinox and i have always thought of this new machine as the natural successor to the Terra's even if its more expensive and much more capable.

Beach tests please testers .

There are a few tests on FB. Programs are still being tweaked. The testers answered some questions but i noticed that the FB group set up by those who have them isn’t saying a great deal just yet. They are still bound by the None Disclosure agreement until it is released for sale.
There is two groups with similar names. Look up something like  Dug That official Minelab Equinox  800 600  group. I see i have the option to add members but i don’t know if they have to be “ Friends”. It is marked as a public group.
The people i know haven’t used it on a beach yet.

Agree, plus
- coin "2 below iron, like the famous Detector comparison tests
- underwater video test

From being involved in product/system testing
I've found sometimes the testers give feedback, but the vendor
deems it "out of scope" or "not within test scope", so data
is ignored. Also some tests are also constructed so that a known
outcome is delivered and unwanted outcomes are not delivered.
Evaluating tests results and reports  can be very difficult!
Beach tests please testers .

Beach testing is like on land - Many variables and Salt water and Sand is different...  Salt concentrations are not consistant and most should know that sand is never consistent.

SO beach testing needs to done at a number of sites...

Equinox  600  /  800  so will there be a 1000 or is that the Monster 1000.

I think 12 months after they release the 800 a second version with the big coil and probably the prospecting mode on it will hit the market. For Xmas 2018?   A short time after that the next two coils will be available separately. (Just a guess)

The 800 has the 40 khts freq and that is the Prospecting mode .
There wont be a further model.
Minelab hopefully will get on with more important projects . i.e. ETrac replacement.

The testers i have talked to have 800’s with the prospecting mode disabled. Someone must be testing it though. With another 2 coils to come i think there will be another release. Time will tell. We will have to wait for a while for this release.

Prospecting mode will be in the 800 machine , 40 khts is the freq for that and will be added for that in the production model.

Only 2 machines being released of this type.

If there is another machine it will be a new top ender, hope they manage to keep the price down on that too !

I was in Miners Den this afternoon and was told it may be available in Oz mid 2018 but then was told not to be surprised if it came out in February. $1299.00 for the 800.

Still no beach in wet salt tests .

I wouldn't pay for something that i knew little about . And on many sites / Forums people are asking the same questions, on Facebook too.

You dont need to pay up front till its out .

There are 3 on eBay at the moment all from Switzerland.
I would guarantee he doesn't physically have them yet.
There's probably a disclaimer stating delivery depending on when he actually receives his stock.

Today : from the Official Minelab Equinox Group
From a UK dealer.
We would like to inform everyone that the serial production of Equinox 600 and Equinox 800 detectors has just begun. First detectors should be shipped from Australia to Europe at the end of next week. Unfortunately we do not know the numbers we get (we have several orders running there). It is likely that we will only receive relatively small numbers in December, and larger numbers will only come in January. The detectors we receive in December will be consistently sent according to how pre-orders arrived.

made in China ( nothing wrong with that, their one of the countries that has the hi-tech facilities to do this sort of work!), shipped to Australia, shipped to the rest of the world?  who really knows, unless you have access to the data on the  manufacturing supply chain...

Looking at the statement, just mentions "production of Equniox 600 and Equinox 800 detectors has just begun"  - doesn't state where unfortunately and we can not infer where.
"First detectors should be shipped from Australia to Europe at the end of next week"....   in my experience dealing with vendors/IT equipment.. the word 'shipped' can mean many things.

As long as people(for those that ordered) get them by xmas, after all the hype then quiet... the better for those consumers.

Looking forward to some real world hunters evaluating them!

Ummm shipped from Australia maybe...  Production will be done ?

Not that it matters too much, the Equinox is more likely being manufactured in Malaysia at the same factory the GPX5000 is made.

I guess some would have seen this picture on different forums. A few options for the 800.
I suppose the magpie setting is something to do with the new series of Detectorist.
