Hellow all, im Tony, retired Ranger/Fire Inspector ;D and new ??? to this site, i live in Sydney and enjoy detecting lots of lost things from our past, along with my little companion 12 year old Blake,, aka Dooms Day Midget,,we go out at least once a week and at times 3 times a week we just love it.
Our oldest site was dated 1835, recent or latest site 2010 and still found things,we read, watch and listen from old hands anything to do with exsperience, tips, and adventures and do,s and donts in this hobby,we listen a lot,i use a Garrett Ace 250 with a Pro Pointer and other acc, and saving for a video camerea/cam corder.
We follow rules pertaining to this hobby and can say have not been chased or shot at to this point ;) and plan to keep it that way, recently sold a Bounty hunter 4 to a chap from this site,Hi mate!!!!!
Feel free to say hellow to Blake and myself we will reply, and once setteled in i will learn how to show PICS of us and some of our nicer finds for all to see, until that time happy hunting all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had land at Medlow Bath many years ago - Delmonte Ave - wish I'd kept it. Have you hunted around the Hydro with any success?

Welcome simmo.Posting is easy enough.Keep pictures small in Kb.not megs. To put in pictures have them in "MY PICTURES" Click on Additional options. Then Browse. Look through your pictures and mark the one you want open. If you need two pictures click under the first browse and another window will open and do the same as first. Easy with practise.  Rwork

HELLO!!!

my name is Russell but most people call me Hoody, i live just north of perth in WA.

i have never been detecting but find it very intruging and am going to get a detector soon for myself and my wife.

Mypassion is fishing and camping so and we travel a lot throughout WA, and to many old historical sites and i think a detector would be a fantastic bit of kit to have handy.

we live about 500 meters from the beach and have seen people detecting from time to time and wouldnt mind having a crack at that also.

I spose i really want to get some advice on what to buy...which if its anything like the fishing forums i frequent theirs so many manufactures with each having their pros and cons. So if anyones got any suggestions im all ears. Im thinking somthing like a xterra 705? is this machine ok for the aformention requirements? or can i get away with somthing cheaper/easier to use.

I would mainly be using it for coins and relics around old historical sites, parks and the beach. As i live so far from the gold feilds this is somthing that it would be used for the least.

Cheers

Hi  all I am Robert please call me Bob, I am a Bus Driver and living in Redcliffe Queensland. My age is 59 years young.
I have been on this great looking Forum for few days now and it looks fantastic. Would love to get into this hobby again, my brother and I had a WHITES METAL DETECTOR a few years ago. He has moved away and I don’t have a Metal Detector anymore .
I am looking to buy a good Metal Detector  not sure what type to get the more I look around the more confuse I get regarding what Detector to buy, It will only be used odd week ends away.
Would love to join a club but not sure wether there is any around this area, had heard there was one in Kallangur.Wil try to find out.
If there is anyone out there with any information regarding a Metal Detector or any clubs would be  much appreciated.

   Kind regards
    Bob

Hi Bob welcome, no shortage of good advise on here. I was born and bred in Redcliffe beaut spot mate. You could try the Redcliffe lapidary club they used to have a lot of detectorist in it and may know of local clubs.

Welcome to the forum Hoody and Bob! :)

As you've probably already noticed there's an array of detectors from various manufacturers used by our members.  You can't go wrong if you stick with any of the major brands.

cheers

Hi to all,
My name is Peter, and I am new to the metal detecting fraternity but am keen to learn. I live in Kalgoorlie and as yet only have an old bounty hunter rb5 which is more a curio than a usefull tool. I want to get hold of a second hand minelab gp extreme or gp 3000 as a few people have told me it would do a good job for a learner. Also, I wanted an outdoor hobby which involved a little camping as well as some sightseeing. I have only just joined this website and am looking forward to reading the stories and having a go. Hopefully it wont be too long before I can post a story myself. Bye for now....
