According to the British "Daily Mail" reported, 47-year-old British man Derek (Derek McClennan) with a metal detector in Scotland found a mysterious metal container. After the news spread, it immediately aroused British Archaeology community concern. Metal containers was treated by professional archaeologists firstly, now it was made appeared publicly.

Archaeologists received a rare metal container and scanned it later. By scanning, archaeologists had a general impression about the rare metal container. Recently, relics in the container were made public, which has silver brooch produced in Irish, silk, fine gold jewelry and other artifacts of early Christian crosses from Istanbul. Related department said, those relics are very precious and its study will contribute to filling gaps in the history of that period.

At present, the Museum of Scotland has spent huge sums of money to buy these relics from Derek and it will soon be officially on display.

...many thanks to Ray for letting me log on as a guest. I am Derek McLennan and if you want to find out more about my Viking find you can either go to our website: www.beyondthebeep.com or our facebook: www.facebook.com/beyondthebeep@gmail.com The FB page keeps up to date with our various detecting exploits. We are based in Scotland and will be happy for any of you to drop by. There will be an exclusive article about the Galloway Viking Hoard appearing in the next 2 issues of The Searcher magazine based in the UK. Or, just Google, 'Galloway Hoard' and you will get lots more reasonably accurate information, including the initial National Geographic online article. The Treasure was found at a depth of 26 inches on pasture and I was using a GENUINE Minelab CTX3030 with the standard 11 inch coil. Once again many thanks Ray, you are a star mate!!!!!

Derek has commented here previously on his treasure find, (reply 2)
The people who decide how much a detectorist find is worth have decided on Two Million pounds.
The Scottish Church who's land it was found on will probably get half.
