A PMAV committee member has said they have met the finder so it will be true. I have just stepped down as admin on the pmav site. The FB page system wouldn't let me view my own club site i run for Bpc and just showed the PMAV comments. I would guess it is Rita who met the finder. Someone commented that Dean Smith from Environmental Creations has made a replica already but this isn't correct. He recently had a nugget over 4 kg that he made replicas from but it was a different lump.
The keyboard warriors are saying it must be Minelab making up finds due to Xmas coming soon. I collect Gold pictures for a hobby and i often hold big lumps that are not mentioned on Facebook. The buyers just cut them up so they fit in the burner and then they are gone.

Here is a picture of it on the Coiltek scales at Maryborough.
Not much being heard from the people who said it was BS. I told a few on the PMAV site that large lumps often get cut up by the buyers, the pictures never get shown on FB. They have to cut them up so the bits fit into the smelting pots.

His digging equipment may have had the word Cat on it. His machine was an old Extreme. The pictures of his claim and the finder with the nugget are on the Bendigo Prospecting Club Facebook site.

I think it is on the end of a known lead but looking at the paddock one would not think you were driving over large lumps of gold. Often farmers will recover a paddock which only has a few holes. This might be why Syd wondered if it was a tin can down deep. The Pit shot shows he is in the pipeclay layer and a few stones are showing in the bottom of the pit, maybe an old waterway.
