novice question, advice sought
« on: May 31, 2017, 14:30 »
I am going to be in victoria over the weekend, and will be heading back north on Monday, I want to head past the goldfields on the way back ( have never gold hunted accept rings etc).
I have an AT Pro - Is it a waste of time?  and if not where is a spot i can go hopefully close to the Freeway to Sydney where I can swing for a couple of hours. I can travel to Bendigo etc.
any advice would be appreciated.
I will also be hitting the Melbourne beaches (not expecting anything, just different scenery)
thanks!

I have not looked in the Victorian region; however, do remember reading somewhere that there is gold to be found in or around Albury, Reidy Creek from woolshed falls to Eldorado; however, I think a gold pan would be best from what I have read. There is meant to be some areas which were good for detecting South of Albury, how far south I am not aware.
If you can pass through the Golden Triangle area within Victoria, I would as this is where you hear lots of good stories of people finding gold and old timer relics.

If you were in the area a week later we could take you out over the Queens Birthday weekend. Really i think you would be better hiring a gold detector rather than walking around with the relic rig. We have members who have put in a lot of time with the 705 and they don't do very well on gold.

thanks guys,
I assume the at pro sees all the ground as metal? due to the minerals?(just as it does with salt water)  I am with the family so dont really have the time to kit out etc. It was just a bright spark in my head when I realised where we would be going past, and had this great idea a welcome stranger would be in my hand in a few swings or so.

You don't know if you don't try mate, I suggest run in iron audio and dig everything, my AT pro gives a good signal on small nuggets when I was testing but I never really have swung it for nuggets
