I have never used an Excal so would not be able to compare the two brands besides Garry Storm the maker of Detector Pro have retired so I guess no more HH detectors.

Does it draw more current driving the large coil?

11" coil draw around 10-15 mA, it draw less  than the probe.

Pistol Probe project is now finished and working well, now there is a choice between attaching the Probe or the Coil.

The sound of a HH-Wader with a 10" coil on a windy Qld beach.

Unable to change the link to the Video so it will just have to lead to nowhere, not very practical but that be the conditions.

Both my HH VLF and PI unit are working fine, even if the head phone control units are not water proof they can if needed be used very conveniently wading in chest deep water, but a scoop with a long handle is a must.

That's my 20% worth.
There is more, perhaps another day when condition allow.

From a dedicated beach machine HH-Wader outing.

Nothing like being able to go chest deep water hunting on a calm day where the long weekend and holiday crowd have been.

Got some UW8's on the plane now.

Would like to hear your thoughts as I will be bringing in the 12 next. Been talking to manufacturer and I am pretty excited to get my hands on them.
DetectorPro will have a permanent home in Australia now.

Thanks Ivan.

1: Take your headset to one of the Bearing Services they have lots of "O" rings.

2: Or take headset to a Hydraulic hose maker and have them make one, it will only take a few minutes, I've made many of those.

3: Find a suitable size rubber/silicone tube and make your own.

It appear my thoughts are not quite understood/appreciated so with present attitude/conditions I am presently cautious/reluctant in elaborating on my outings with the Detector Pro HH Underwater, perhaps in the future things might change ???
Never the less, it's an easy/pleasant detector to get on with ..... just like me!  >:D

Shane,
There are a few people with HH detectors in Australia, just not when you need to know or get help with something.
I have an "O" ring, see it in the picture, don't know if it will fit your HH PI unit.
My HH snap together with a ridge and grove but they are not waterproof merely water resistant.
Have only heard that the HH PI have an O ring but have never seen one so do not know where the O ring is actually seated.
If you can do some measurements and let me know, if mine will fit I'll post it to you.

Another outing with the DP-U W 12, this NEL Tornado coil have good coverage, total weight of 1100 gram for coil and complete shaft is manageable for extended period of detecting.

A detector with a good size coil and a low frequency for dept is just dandy as the targets on this beach is deep.

Also a good scoop with long handle is mandatory.
