Clegy or Goldpick might be able to help as they have used the MI6 but the manual here- http://www.xpmetaldetectors.com/telechargement/Instruction_manual/MANUEL%20MI-6%2011.10.17.pdf states the LED flashes briefly every 4 secs after turning off the pinpointer. Sounds a bit like how the coils flash when not in use.

Sending mine back tomorrow as i have  difficulty turning it off,Have to press and hold the button many times before it turns off ,then it changes the sensitivity and i have to re-tune it again,hope that Justin can fix it..
